with the family
So my family arrived safely last night. Then we took a shuttle back to Hongdae and found the hostel a few blocks and alleys down from the subway station. Scott came back with me and we got to hang out for a while. Today Eddie went to Rugby and we headed out for Insadong. First we had to figure out their money situation so we found a bank in Sinchon that took foreign cards and we were ready for our trip. We walked around Isadong for a few hours, then had a big Korean style meal. After the meal my grandma had a bunch of soup left over but they didn't have any take out boxes so she got an old plastic bag out of her purse and filled it will soup!!!! Luckily no one saw but when she said she was gonna buy more plastic bags we all groaned.... We tried some candy and some traditional Korean bread with sweet honey on the inside. I showed them the honey candy that used to be made for kings and we walked around some more and bought little trinkets. Since there were four of us walking around we were much more visible as foreigners so we got stopped 3 or 4 times to do interviews with Korean students about what we liked and what we thought about Korea. We stopped at the Coffee Bean for something to drink then headed back to the subway. When we got back to the hostel and tried to contact my uncle Randy's Korean family. Unfortunately the language barrier is too great so we decided we would try again later. We took a taxi to my apartment and my mom napped for a while then we went to a Chicken restaurant called Tacoya (luckily there were no leftovers) We took a taxi back to their hostel and Scott and I walked around Hongdae for a while. Some college students approached us again and took us to a coffee shop to do an interview. They bought both of us a hot cocoa and asked what I liked about Korea, etc. After that we headed to the grocery store and picked up a few things. Now we're home and tired! Tomorrow we're gonna meet up with my mom and grandma for a bit then I have to teach for a couple hours.
